Chambers Diversity & Inclusion is delighted to announce Media Legal Defence Initiative (MLDI) as its annual global charity partner.
Media Legal Defence Initiative (MLDI) is an international organisation that provides legal defence to journalists, citizen journalists and independent media across the world. MLDI are based in London and work closely with a world-wide network of experienced lawyers, as well as local, national and international organisations, donors, foundations and advisors who are all concerned with defending freedom of expression.
Head of Diversity & Inclusion at Chambers and Partners, Dee Sekar said: “We are delighted to be supporting the work of MLDI. Their work is of significant global importance and as part of our own external D&I programme, we are focusing on pro bono as a key part of our research moving forwards.”
MLDI’s CEO, Lucy Freeman said of the partnership: “MLDI is excited to partner with Chambers for this year’s Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards and events which recognises the important role pro bono lawyers play in challenging impunity and defending human rights.”
The Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards celebrate in-house legal teams and law firms who are furthering the advancement of diversity and inclusion across Europe. With clients increasingly demanding to see improvements in diversity from their law firms, the awards provide an opportunity for both general counsel and law firms to demonstrate the key work and success they are bringing to shifting the inclusion dial. The awards also provide the opportunity to shine the spotlight on pro bono role models and trailblazers with a number of accolades for individual lawyers and firms.
