Malika Herring is Senior Litigation Counsel at bp America Inc. and has worked in the legal department since 2008. Malika manages hundreds of lawsuits involving personal injury, commercial disputes, and class actions both upstream and downstream across an average of 20 states, the Gulf of Mexico, and the North Sea. She also provides advice and counsel to internal BP clients regarding litigation risks and contractual agreements. In addition, Malika serves as the Americas Chair for Diversity Equity & Inclusion in the legal department. She is also a member of BP’s External Counsel Management Committee (XCMC) – the internal team that selects and evaluates outside counsel for the company.
Before joining bp, Malika was Assistant General Counsel in Litigation at a Fortune 5 company where she managed over four hundred lawsuits across the country. For several years, in Houston, Texas, Malika began her legal career as a litigator in private practice specializing in commercial disputes, employment, toxic tort, products/premises liability, and environmental law.
