Sarah Oliver Scemla is a Director and Assistant General Counsel at Bank of America. Ms. Oliver Scemla advises all business lines on legal issues in relation to sustainable finance, Brexit planning and other regulatory matters.
Before joining the Bank in January 2018, Ms. Oliver Scemla was Legal Counsel at BNP Paribas in Hong Kong, where she lead the bank’s legal response to markets legislation impacting its business in Asia-Pacific and provided coverage to a variety of fixed income business lines. She was previously an Associate at Hogan Lovells in Paris and in London.
Ms. Oliver Scemla has a keen interest in corporate social responsibility and Human Rights, with more than 15 years’ experience of board positions for charities, including as Head of Pro Bono for WILHK.
She is Head for Community Engagement for Bank of America’s Legal team in EMEA and as part of this, has recently set up a pro bono programme for the region. At BNP Paribas, Ms. Oliver Scemla was a member of the HK Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and set up the Bank’s pro bono programme for Asia-Pacific. This focused on the rights of foreign domestic workers and asylum seekers and advised grass root charities in the region.
